This Challenger Pack introduces Ben Tennyson as the xx character of Fighters' Pass IG Vol. 1., and includes the Bellwood stage, music, and a DLC Spirit Board. This is my second Challenger Pack. A lazy Linux User chooses Google Chrome. I used Chrome many years till this year and I thought I was smart, but I was just lazy. But if you use Chrome, you accept a higher CPU occupation and you accept a large number of dropped frames for the YouTube videos. It also came with 2 HD floppy drives and could be connected to an external hard drive. The Operating System, FM Towns OS, was a Windows-like GUI operating system. A bootable only version of the OS was freely available to applications developers so their software could boot in the CD drive without needing to load the OS.

Has anyone ever tried a magic-only party on Torment? It sounds like an intriguing idea, but it would be difficult with no meat shields (not to mention tedious and time consuming without!).

written Monday, April 7 2008 09:24Profile#22Holy cow! Near one year topic necromancy!
Anyway, I'm pretty sure you can't do more than 300 damage by weaponry. The way that physical damage is dealt has changed so much throughout the different Avernums. It is quite fascinating that in A1 you can hardly do ninety damage while in BoA, you can easily do hundreds. Does anyone know how damage is determined in all the games?
Also, I didn't know that the difficulty levels changed resistances. I've never noticed it before. Are you sure that's accurate? It would also be interesting to see exactly what the different levels of difficulty change (and how, for a learning programmer like me!). I must say that it is quite fascinating the way that this all turns out; these games are so simple yet so complex.

written Monday, April 7 2008 08:42Profile#0A strange problem cropped up a while ago in Avernum 3. No beams (meaning the ray that goes from the caster to the targets) for spells (like for Lightning Spray, Fireblast, etc.) appear. They used to appear, but now none appear. Not even that beam for the spell in the beginning of the opening cutscene are shown. I don't really care too much about this problem, but it would be nice to fix. I doubt reinstalling will fix the problem, because I recently did that.

Avernum 1 - Mung demons and crystal goodies. in The Avernum Trilogy
Member # 8872
written Thursday, April 3 2008 12:09Profile#9First of all, some of you people clearly haven't played A1 for a while. There is no such thing as radiant shield in A1. And, what in Avernum is a potion of clarity (which The Mystic mentioned)?
Anyway, I usually train an archer in my party and my main fighter usually has some skill in thrown missiles. For mung demons, I usually just kind of get by without spellcasters, but the ideas mentioned are very smart. For basilisks, I usually just charge them madly with everyone hasted (let's just say that Beast Ceremony Level 3 is a great asset!) and destroy them. Also, having Luck skill might help against their gaze. In most of the other games it does.

written Saturday, March 22 2008 06:21Profile#5Thanks! However, my goal is to make a standard dialog popup. Why can't it be this long? I've seen many longer dialogs. Am I using the wrong call?
Also, if anyone knows of a good OS X resource editor that is preferably free, I could really use it. Not being able to see the icons and sheets can be troublesome.

written Friday, March 21 2008 12:08Profile#0EDIT: Oh dear. Sorry. I fixed my own problem. I thought dialogs weren't working, but I realised I forgot to set the town script! Anyway, I must continue working on my first scenario...
RE-EDIT: Gah! The game complains that the following string is too long:
message_dialog('You enter a walled building in the middle of this large swamp. You pass through the damaged gates and see what looks like the site of a magical disaster. It looks as if something either escaped or got in the large construct in the center of the building. A small building is near the construct. Perhaps you can find answers there.',');
Solution?

Which Geneforge Game is best? in Geneforge Series
Member # 8872
written Thursday, December 13 2007 12:51Profile#5I thought Geneforge 2 was one of the best. It's between that and 3 for me. I agree with Enraged Slith; GF3 is very immersive, but I like the atmosphere and feel of GF2 better. I also enjoy the fact that there are many choices for storyline.

I find it a little odd how good the NPCs are. Hsska (the slith priest) would make a freakishly good singleton considering how early you can recruit him if you try hard enough.
I can only wonder what the deep reason for this is.

HELP - 'Sound Error 2' on Launch of Avernum 5 Demo in Tech Support
Warrior
written Monday, November 26 2007 13:53Profile#5To tell you the truth, bughunter, I think you should install 10.4.11. After installing 10.4.10 I could no longer mount dmg's and numerous other small problems including an inability to print pdf's with the cupsd task (which is the only one that can, as far as I can tell). If I tried, a task called pstopdffilter would eat all my CPU power all the time. I don't think there will be many problems, but you never know with Intel chips (not that I dislike them at all). The update could help; you never know.
Well, it's up to you, but I would recommend it.

written Saturday, November 3 2007 06:35Profile#8Well, in theory, that couldn't be too hard (however, I know virtually nothing about C/C++, so I can't be sure). If, as you said, it was a system similar to the enchantment crystals, it would work marvelously. Great idea! However, I would estimate a 90% chance it will not be included in GF5.

Creation Armour in Geneforge 4: Rebellion
Member # 8872
written Saturday, November 3 2007 05:49Profile#6Well, it is not nearly as simple as that. It would require some serious game-balancing changes if that were to take effect. Creations would have to cost a lot more, but then again, it would be difficult because all of the hostile creations would be much more dangerous too. Basically, it would involve a mini-rewrite of all the stats of everything, or else those feeble worms would kill you in the first area. It is not very practical to just boost the power of everything; it would severely damage gameplay. Sadly, as I would like it too, I doubt it will happen.
You see, the idea is to just start off with creations ASAP so that you can keep them and make them strong until you can make a new, better creature. You may find that creations are actually more fierce than you think--if you keep them around for a while. That's all it takes. You just need to think about it.
