what's the most current / best os i can run on a mac mini (built mid 2011). it has 8gb ram & 480gb available hard drive memory.

was running mojave thus could not upgrade/update beyond GarageBand 11 v 6.0.5 (428.5). a few days ago i learned it's possible for the mac mini described above, to be upgraded past mojave os. now this mac mini is running El Capitan.

The issue so far; the version of El CAPITAN installed did not come with a newer version of Garageband than mohave...

  • is this normal, or did i miss a step in the process of downloading & installation?
  • do i need to to install yet a newer os ?
  • how far up the line of operating systems can this 2011 mac mini support?
  • whats the max. ram memory a mid 2011 mac mini can handle?

You can refer to those descriptions when deciding which operating system is best for your iMac, Mac Pro, Mac mini, or MacBook. With each OS description, I included a list of Macs supported. However, you can use Mac OS compatibility checker for more detailed information. MacOS 11 Big Sur. Miniquests are similar to quests and subquests in that they are groups of interrelated tasks that can be completed for rewards such as items, skills and experience. However, they are usually shorter compared to regular quests and do not reward quest points.

Is your Mac up to date with the latest version of the Mac operating system? Is it using the version required by a product that you want to use with your Mac? Which versions are earlier (older) or later (newer, more recent)? To find out, learn which version is installed now.

If your macOS isn't up to date, you may be able to update to a later version.

Which macOS version is installed?

From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name, such as macOS Big Sur, followed by its version number. If you need to know the build number as well, click the version number to see it.

Which macOS version is the latest?

These are all Mac operating systems, starting with the most recent. When a major new macOS is released, it gets a new name, such as macOS Big Sur. As updates that change the macOS version number become available, this article is updated to show the latest version of that macOS.

Mac Os Versions

If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps that are installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar, and Photos.
